Does Kratom Show Up On a Drug Test? You’ll Be Surprised!

Does kratom show up on a drug test? Well, originally I had said no in previous articles. I have to retract that statement after recent events shed light on the fact that the internet lied to us, yet again. Yes, kratom will show up in a drug test! I know this first hand.

I have passed numerous drug tests for employment in the past with kratom on board. I guess it is different when going to pain management, or perhaps even probation or parole. They know what to look for and the alkaloids show up positive in a drug panel.

At a recent trip to my pain management physician to receive steroid injections in my neck, I was tested for narcotics. I wasn’t expecting to get a letter in the mail two weeks later threatening me with termination because kratom was in my system. Needless to say, no more injections for me. Even though I am not interested in their narcotics, and I am not getting any prescription painkillers, it’s still an issue to have a natural substance present in your system. They hate competition!

Big Pharma, Big Money

According to a recent article in the Huffington Post, Oxycontin sales alone generate over $2 billion in US sales anually. Over 100 Million adults are also noted to suffer from some type of chronic pain, leaving people to seek out a source for comfort. Unfortunately, there aren’t many natural options and people are left with little choice other than prescription painkillers. Sadly, according to the World Health Organization, nearly 180,000 Americans have died from using these legal medicines since 2000.

This is big business for the pharmaceutical industry. Kratom is a thorn in the sides to these monster companies, who stand to lose billions if people end up breaking the addiction caused by their pharmaceuticals. Now the public can begin to see why the DEA and FDA continue to assault the legitimacy of our beloved kratom. It’s all about the Benjamins!
